Greetings from the Chairman

Juichi Yamagiwa
Kyoto University Alumni was established in November 2006 with the aim of promoting exchange and friendship among its individual members as well as contributing to the development of Kyoto University.

Kyoto University Alumni currently encompasses over 100 organizations and their members. In addition to the many associations within individual faculties, graduate schools, and so on, this includes regional alumni associations across Japan, from Hokkaido in the north to Okinawa in the south as well as regional alumni associations all over the world in East Asia, North and South America, and Europe. We hope that in the future they will be joined by many more alumni associations across Japan and around the world.

Universities provide windows to the world. After setting out through the windows that Kyoto University opens into various walks of life, all kinds of situations may await you. As you encounter them and seek to forge new paths in your life, you can often find help by developing relationships with former classmates, former teachers, and fellow alumni of various generations as well as professional and academic fields.

You have connections with fellow alumni not only through Kyoto and Kyoto University, but also through a number of different settings, such as your faculty, graduate school, or local community. We hope that by being part of the alumni association, you will develop many connections that will in turn enrich your lives.

We look forward in the future to your further support in the activities of Kyoto University Alumni.
