Rakusuikai (Agricultural and Environmental Engineering)
The Rakusuikai is an alumni association consisting of alumni, faculty members (and former faculty members), and affiliated persons of the agricultural engineering-related departments of the Faculty of Agriculture and the Graduate School of Agriculture at Kyoto University. The departments and divisions producing these graduates have undergone a number of reorganizations, currently including the former Department of Agricultural Engineering, the former Division of Agricultural Engineering, the agricultural engineering-related departments of the former Department of Biological Sciences, the agricultural engineering-related departments of the former Department of Production and Environmental Sciences, as well as the current Department of Agricultural and Environmental Engineering and the agricultural engineering-related departments of the current Division of Environmental Science and Technology. The Rakusuikai has a long history and has more than 2,700 current members.
The Rakusuikai was established with the aim of promoting friendship among its members and contributing to the development of agricultural engineering. In addition to the affiliated departments at the university, the association has seven regional branches across Japan, with exchanges and socializing happening at the annual general meeting. Moreover, a Rakusuikai register is published once a year, including not only member information but also department and branch news. The department news contains the latest updates and research status of every department. The branch news provides the latest updates on members in every branch and status and issues related to agricultural engineering in different regions. On campus, the association arranges tea parties for new students, sports competitions, and graduation celebrations, as well as provides opportunities for current students to interact and socialize.
