Surikai (Department of Applied Mathematics and Physics, and the Applied Mathematics and Physics Course in the School of Informatics and Mathematical Science)
The Kyoto University Mathematics Association (commonly known as the Surikai) is an alumni association consisting of students, graduates, and faculty members (including former staff) of the Applied Mathematics and Physics Course in the School of Informatics and Mathematical Science, Faculty of Engineering, Kyoto University, as well as graduates of the Department of Applied Mathematics and Physics at the Graduate School of Engineering. No membership fee is collected, and the chairperson is director of the Engineering Course, Department of Informatics at the Faculty of Engineering, whereas the coordinator is a faculty member of the Mathematical Engineering Course. Although the organization is small, it arranges a symposium on mathematical engineering for first-year students once a year, organizes a commemorative event every 10 years, and publishes a commemorative magazine. In connection with the publication of the The World of Mathematical Engineering, we held a 60th anniversary event with the participation of many.
The Mathematics Association asks all its members to register for the Kyoto University alumni service KUON. When the association contacts its members, it does so through the contact information registered with KUON. Please register with KUON and indicate the “Kyoto University Mathematics Association” as your “Affiliated alumni association.”
