Kyoto University Beijing Alumni “Kyo-Kyo-Kai”

The Kyoto University Beijing Alumni “Kyo-Kyo-Kai” was established for people with a connection to Kyoto University who reside in the Chinese capital Beijing and its environs.

Our membership, which is growing rapidly, includes people who are active in research and business in China. Several times a year, we hold social gatherings, such as cherry blossom viewings, New Year’s and year-end parties, welcome parties for newcomers, and farewell parties for those returning to Japan. Through these events, we hope to facilitate friendship and exchange.

In April 2011, then-President Hiroshi Matsumoto came to Beijing for a social gathering. We also invited professors from Kyoto University to hold an international symposium with professors from Tsinghua University and Renmin University of China (October 2011).

Since 2020, we have had to suspend our activities owing to the spread of COVID-19. In 2020, Hideo Tarumi, a graduate of Kyoto University, was appointed as the ambassador of Japan to China. We hoped to resume our activities while being mindful of the spread of infection.

Apart from Kyoto University graduates, international students, and people who have conducted research activities at the University, family members and others with a connection are more than welcome to get in touch with us.
