Open Courses and Lectures
Among the various events held by Kyoto University, the following lists the open courses, lecture meetings, symposiums, and similar events that can be attended by the public.
Kyoto University Forest of Knowledge (Kyodai Chi no Mori)
Kyoto University Forest of Knowledge is an open lecture series that has been held since the autumn of 2023 to share knowledge generated at Kyoto University with a wide range of people inside and outside the university.
Guided by lectures and discussions by researchers, we can enter Kyoto University’s multidisciplinary “forest of knowledge,” and discover the fun and significance of research.

Kyoto University Knowledge
Kyoto University Knowledge is a lecture meeting that tours different areas of Japan with the aim of sharing research outcomes from Kyoto University. Each lecture meeting is on a different theme and the lectures are given by Kyoto University faculty members. Participation is free of charge and open to everyone.
Kyoto University-Inamori Foundation Joint Kyoto Prize Symposium
KUIP has been held annually since 2014 in collaboration between Kyoto University and the Inamori Foundation. The symposium aims to raise international awareness of the Kyoto Prize and commemorate the late Dr. Kazuo Inamori’s contribution to human development. It provides attendees and participants with a valuable opportunity to experience the cutting-edge of academic research, centering on the remarkable research being undertaken at Kyoto University.

Clock Tower Concert
Kyoto University and Kyoto City University of Arts hold the Clock Tower Concert—An Afternoon of Exchange by Kyoto University and Kyoto City University of Arts at the Kyoto University Centennial Clock Tower Memorial Hall. The event is facilitated by the Memorandum of Understanding on Inter-University Exchange that was concluded between Kyoto University and Kyoto City University of Arts in 2005.
Kyoto University Local Lecture Meetings
Kyoto University arranges local lecture meetings across Japan to share its accumulation of advanced scholarship and intellectual resources, as well as its latest education and research outcomes, widely throughout society.
Kyoto University Spring and Autumn Lectures
The Spring and Autumn Lectures are open courses that have been held since 1988 with the aim of sharing intellectual resources generated through the university’s academic research activities with both university students, faculty, and staff and the general public. The lectures are provided twice a year on themes selected each spring and autumn.
Kyoto University Future Forum
Based on their experiences as Kyoto University students, graduates who are now active in various fields deliver messages that provide hints pointing to a wonderful future for everyone in today’s society, including all students.
Recurrent Education (Lifelong Learning)
As a higher education institution that is broadly engaged with society, Kyoto University implements the following forms of recurrent education on both the university-wide and faculty/graduate school levels as a way to further expand and improve learning opportunities for working adults.
